Preparing Children for Real Life, Together

Practical skills matter more than ever. Creativity, problem-solving, and adaptability help children face real challenges.

At Bali Earth School, education goes beyond academics. We combine learning with real-life skills and nurture kindness and respect. Children develop the abilities and mindset to grow into humans who can control and guide technology, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), rather than being controlled by it.

These Are The Life Skills Our Kids Learn

Educational thinker John Dewey believed that children learn best through real-life experiencescooking, gardening, arts, outdoor activities – and by understanding everyday economics, the early foundation of today’s financial literacy. These experiences are even more meaningful when children work together, because it helps them share ideas, solve problems, and support one another.

Gardening

Gardening is a vital life skill, teaching children how to grow their own food and understand where it comes from. At our school, we are proud members of Biodynamic Indonesia, which follows a farming approach that goes beyond organic standards, ensuring the soil remains completely free from chemicals. Through hands-on practice, children learn about different plants, the unique methods each requires, and the time it takes for them to grow. This experience gives them not only practical skills but also a deep respect for nature and the food they eat.

Art

Art at Bali Earth School is a powerful way for children to develop emotional expression and mindfulness. By engaging in activities such as painting, crafting, and sculpting with clay or other materials, children can express their feelings, boost creativity, and improve focus. Through these hands-on experiences, art becomes a tool for meditation, helping children connect with themselves while exploring their creativity.

Storytelling

At Bali Earth School, storytelling is at the heart of learning, with every subject delivered through stories. As our teachers, educators, and facilitators bring stories to life, children learn to tell their own, expressing emotions, building imagination, and gaining confidence. With support from The Moth, a world-leading organization in storytelling, children develop the skills to share feelings, connect with others, and communicate their ideas with heart.

Animal Farm

Our chickens are more than animals—they’re a living classroom. Children collect fresh, chemical-free eggs and understand where real food comes from. By feeding chickens with leftovers and turning their manure into compost, they see how recycling and natural cycles work in practice. Looking after chicks teaches biology and life science, while daily care builds responsibility, time management, and problem-solving. Beyond soft skills, children gain hands-on knowledge of food systems, sustainability, and the science of living things—all while enjoying a close connection to nature.

Cooking Skills

At Bali Earth School, cooking skills help children become independent in preparing their own meals. By making simple dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as fresh juices, smoothies, different kinds of salads, fruit skewers, and traditional foods, they learn about healthy food, practice cleanliness during preparation, and gain practical skills to take care of themselves.

Survival Skills

Survival skills help children handle challenges safely and independently. At Bali Earth School, children learn how to respond in emergency situations, practice basic first aid, and develop practical outdoor skills such as identifying which plants are safe to eat and building a simple shelter. These experiences help children stay calm and feel prepared in everyday life.

Financial Literacy

At Bali Earth School, children learn essential financial skills such as counting money, understanding its value, making budget plans, setting prices, and spending wisely. To bring this learning to life, we provide them with real money to purchase materials for the products they wish to create. The journey comes together on Market Day, where the children run their own small businesses and put their financial knowledge into real practice.

Teamwork

Being able to work well with others is essential for success. At Bali Earth School, we support individualism through personalized learning while also guiding children in teamwork. Through group projects, children learn to share ideas, cooperate, and support one another. These experiences build collaboration and teamwork skills, preparing them to work effectively with others at school, in careers, business, and family life.

Backed by Research

Our Approach is Supported By Research

Dr. R. Botvin (Weill Cornell Medical College, USA) developed the widely recognized Life Skills Training Program, showing that life skills education reduces risky behaviors and strengthens decision-making and communication.

The message is clear: practical skills build resilience, creativity, and responsibility – qualities just as essential as academics for a child’s future.

Our Vision

We want every child to leave with courage, creativity, and hearts guided by kindness and respect – ready for the world ahead.
