Ogoh-Ogoh

The Ogoh-Ogoh Event

The Ogoh-Ogoh Event Teaches Students About Balinese Culture and Traditions
At our school’s Ogoh-Ogoh event, students get a hands-on experience with Balinese culture by making their own Ogoh-Ogoh statues. These creations, inspired by mythological creatures, are paraded to symbolize the clearing of negative energies. Through this activity, students develop teamwork skills and gain a meaningful connection to Bali’s traditions.

What is Ogoh-Ogoh?

An Ogoh-Ogoh is a symbolic statue in Balinese culture, usually depicting mythological creatures, demons, or spirits. These statues are paraded through villages as part of the Nyepi celebrations, symbolizing the removal of negative forces from the community before the Balinese Day of Silence.

Embracing Balinese Culture Through the Ogoh-Ogoh Parade

Our school’s Ogoh-Ogoh parade allows students to create and display their own Ogoh-Ogoh statues inspired by Balinese folklore. This enriching experience teaches them about the significance of these cultural symbols while promoting creativity and collaboration. Through their participation, students gain a deeper appreciation for Bali’s cultural identity.
