After being disappointed with existing schooling options for her own daughter, Theresia founded Bali Earth School with a vision to create real education. An education that genuinely prepares a child for Earth.
She felt that traditional schools were too rigid and academic where children were not taught to think for themselves or to develop creatively. While nature schools were too lenient, lacking in actual academic learning and became an expensive daycare. She envisioned a balanced approach.
At Bali Earth School, we combine modern, effective academia with practical, real-life learning experiences. We aim to develop a child’s capacity to think independently, allowing them to thrive in any situation and to cultivate a worldly perspective that appreciates life and beauty. This is the vision and mission of Bali Earth School.
Modern
Academics
We teach academic subjects in engaging and innovative ways. We teach via Jolly Phonics for reading and writing where students learn through fun, multi-sensory techniques.
We give them hands-on practical experience with experiments for science and employ alternative methods to make math more interesting and digestible.
Community
Involvement
Every month, our students participate in community projects such as beach clean-ups, helping at orphanages and providing food and supplies to those in need.
These projects not only contributes to the community but helps students foster appreciation of their own lives and gain perspective on the world.
Adventure
Outings
Every Friday, we embark on outings to places like waterfalls, mountains, and forests. These adventures are intended not just for fun but to challenge our students to foster growth.
Faced with novel situations, they learn to react, adapt, and stick together as a group to overcome obstacles. This helps them learn values such as camaraderie, resilience and independence.
Essential
Life Skills
We teach life skills such as cleaning, cooking and finance. By taking responsibility for cleaning the school, students learn discipline and the importance of maintaining a clean environment.
These activities help promote the formation of good habits that we hope will benefit them throughout their lives.
